SUBE system collapses after massive turnout

After the Government warned about the removal of mass transit subsidies for those not in possession of a SUBE card, thousands of people showed up at the SUBE stands located throughout the City to sign up for the service, which caused a collapse of the system.

After February 10, those who wish to pay for their train or bus tickets in cash will have to pay the full price of the fare, which as of now remains unknown.

The SUBE card is used by thousands of people in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area who take trains and buses around the City and can be topped-up in many stores and kiosks.

Lines were going around the block and some people had to wait for more than two hours in some of the locations, such as the Constitución train station, after the ad warning about the removal of the mass transportation subsidies went public.

The main stands are located in the Retiro train and bus station, although the Government has set up dozens of stands throughout the City and Greater Buenos Aires area in order to help people acquire the card fast.
