Woman crushed to death under a parade float in Corrientes

A 22-year-old woman died today in the town of Esquina, Corrientes province, after a being crushed underneath the wheels of a parade float she had been dancing on during the local carnival celebrations.

The young woman was identified as María Ludmila Fernández, who according to eye witnesses, slipped while trying to help a friend up onto the float where the Caru Cura dancers were carrying out their routine.

According to Esquina police sources the young woman was travelling on the part of the vehicle linking the staging to the trailer when all of a sudden she lost her balance, slipped and fell onto the tarmac along Mitre street.

“The young girl died almost immediately from her wounds and was already dead on arrival to the San Roque hospital,” police sources from Esquina informed.
