Quake shakes Chile coast, capital

A 5.6 magnitude quake shook Chile's central coast on shaking buildings as far away as the capital Santiago, but the state emergency office said there were no immediate reports of any damage.

The quake struck 100 miles north of the port city of Valparaiso at a depth 14.6 miles, the US Geological Survey said. Chile is quake-prone, and south central Chile was ravaged by a powerful quake and ensuing tsunamis in early 2010.
