Videos show panic after cruise ship wreck
Videos shot by passengers aboard the doomed Costa Concordia have surfaced online, capturing the terror and confusion that swept the cruise ship after it ran aground.
In one clip posted on YouTube, dozens of passengers in an overloaded lifeboat scream in horror as the safety vessel's tethers creak and whine before snapping, sending the launch crashing into the sea below.
"Oh God!" one man shouted in Italian as the lifeboat slams into the Mediterranean with a loud thud.
It's not clear if anyone was injured in the fall, and the crowd on the lifeboat eventually settles down.
Another video shows a group of stunned English-speaking passengers as they cruise away from the crippled ocean liner in a rescue boat.
"This is not happening," one woman says in disbelief.
"We're not safe until we don't hit a rock," another woman replies.
Later, that video shows hundreds of survivors safely gathered ashore, too dazed to remove their red life vests.
