This week at the movies
There’s a weird and wonderful list of flicks thrown into the mix this week at local movie theatres. Notably this week’s front runner, ‘The Help’ touches upon the story of African American maids who raise white children in the early 1960´s in southern states of the US. Where although it doesn’t tread too heavily, if you're in need of a lighter bite, try ‘The Muppets’ latest installment to catch a few laughs.
The variation of films this week allows you to take full advantage of the cinema’s air conditioning to kick back and watch a variety of movies. ‘The Muppets’ provides family-filled fun, but however if your not too fond of the colourful felt figures you could go for another family feature: ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ starring the likes of Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. (See links to this article for a Herald review).
For a more modern look at Moscow, try ‘The Darkest Hour’ which bands human survival with a seemingly powerful attack from alien invaders.
If not, something like O’Horten, which has received various congratulatory nods in Norway, is about a train driver and his sudden life change.
Along a similar note, Argentine flick ‘Agua y Sal’ looks at a man’s bid to change his lifestyle from working full-time in an office.
