Drought: Biolcati asks gov't to cut export tax duties
The head of the Argentine Rural Society (SRA in Spanish) Hugo Biolcati warned this morning that “there is a huge and general feeling of discomfort among farmers for the lack of government’s response before the current drought.”
Likewise, the lobbyist urged the national government to lower the export tax duties’ rates considering this year’s harvest is expected to drop by 10 million tons.
“This whole situation creates a feeling of disappointment in terms of the aid the sector can get from the government at this point”, and added, “Farmers are desperate and it’s really hard to understand how we can still be paying such a high export tax rates.”
