Street vendors clear Corrientes Ave and Florida intersection
Street peddlers cleared the intersection of Corrientes Avenue and Florida after interrupting traffic for a few hours in response to a raid carried by municipal inspectors and Metropolitan Police officers on Wednesday morning in order to stop them from selling illegal goods along Florida shopping street.
The protesters warned that they would not clear Florida and have threatened to remain there gathered in “permanent assembly” until they can return to place their mats along the pedestrian street.
They also accused store owners in the area of “hiring unregistered workers and betting on the dollar.”
The City’s security forces have warned that they will regroup every morning at the popular intersection in order to remove any sellers that intend to sell their illegal merchandise.
