Catriel's mayor had $50,000 pesos when found, police says

Santa Cruz's police unveiled that Catriel Mayor Carlos Johnston was carrying $50,000 pesos when he was found at the Los Antiguos locality, after being lost for three days.

The sheriff of the police station of Los Antiguos, Alejandro Gatica, affirmed that when they found the mayor at Santa Cruz’s locality “he had almost 10,000 dollars and 8,000 pesos in cash.”

Gatica also stated that they had found new clothes inside the mayor’s car that were purchased during his trip, that included Bariloche, El Hoyo, Comodoro Rivadavia and Caleta Olivia before reaching Los Antiguos.

The policeman told the press that Johnston had said he left because he had “family problems” and also because he felt overwhelmed “by the adjustment measures” he had to apply in the district.

That is the reason why the police was so surprise to find that amount money in the car when they found the missing mayor.

This version is unveiled a day after Johnston apologized for his disappearance on January 1 and had assured that it was due to “an anxiety issue generated by several factors.”
