Tension mounts as City inspectors fail to clear out street peddlers

Street peddlers clashed with Buenos Aires City government inspectors as the latter started a sweep out operation in Florida Street. Tension mounted as numerous street vendors refused to pick up their lower quality imitations of popular consumer products and leave.

So far there was no presence of Metropolitan Police officers as only City government’s inspectors were the ones trying to clean out the famous and traditional pedestrian zone.

The Metropolitan Police, and by extension the City government, has consistently stormed street vendors located in Florida Street as well many other City hot spots. In recent years numerous arrests of street peddlers were conducted as well with raids ending in the seizure of goods being sold.
