Brazil's footballer Ronaldo diagnosed with dengue
Retired Brazilian football legend Ronaldo tweeted today he was diagnosed with dengue fever. "Good morning to you. I have started the year with dengue," wrote the 34-year-old star soccer icon, who welcomed in the New Year on Trancoso beach in Bahia, international news agencies reported.
"I am recovering. I was discharged last night and now I have to rest in order to recover quickly," wrote Ronaldo."Damned mosquito," he said on his Twitter account, referring to the insect which caused the disease.
Furthermore, he also tweeted a link of a Brazilian Health Ministry’s webpage for dengue prevention. “I was thinking to myself I could enjoy the opportunity to do something useful to fight and prevent dengue fever,” he posted.
Dengue is transmitted by a number of species of mosquito and can, in some cases, develop into a life-threatening situation.
