Missing Australian tourist found alive in El Bolsón
A 23-year-old Australian tourist that had been missing since last Monday in the Rio Negro province was found this morning by a mountain climber in the Cajón de Azul region. The woman seemed to be dehydrated and her body showed signs of physical violence.
Since last Monday, search and rescue teams had been looking for Emma Kevly in the surroundings of El Bolsón.
She was found around alive but badly bruised after 8 am, and authorities are now investigating if she was a victim of sexual abuse.
The man who found her took her to his pick-up truck and drover to the closes police station.
Kevly seemed to be in a state of shock and authorities had not been able to question her yet, although they said they noticed several wounds on her body, as well as small bruises and scratches.
Police officials said the reasons for her disappearance and bruises remain unknown.
The woman was immediately taken to a hospital where she will later be questioned with the assistance of an English translator since she doesn’t seem to understand Spanish.
The search for Kevly began when her friend and local resident Néstor Meister went to the police to say that she had left for the Cajón de Azul region but hadn’t returned by Monday, as she said she would.
Police officials do not discard the possibility that her injuries may be the result of a bad fall and that she became disoriented after that.
