Transport Secretary, City Gov't crossfire over subway transfer
Earlier, Rodríguez Larreta said that “if there is political will,” the subway service administration could be transferred to the City in “two months.” “If we work hard enough, this could be solved in two months.
Transport Secretary Schiavi assured that “those verbose comments aren’t necessary when the National Government announced on November 11th that the subway service transfer can be done. It was an inopportune comment. Rodríguez Larreta should understand the necessary time frames and should end his marketing campaign to complicate things even further.”
City Cabinet Chief Rodríguez Larreta earlier today said that Mauricio Macri’s administration “has made a huge effort, not a little effort,” as he addressed President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s comments on the matter.
Earrlier today City Economy Minister Néstor Grindetti, stated today that the transfer of the city subway administration could go through “before March” but not from January 2, as President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner requested in her speech yesterday.
“If we begin working on it now, we could even be ready before March. It’s something that needs to be discussed,” stated Grindetti in a television interview this morning.
In addition, the City Economy Minister furthered that the programming of events needed to be brought to the table “as soon as possible”.
Yesterday, Grindetti had stated that only in March were they able to take full control of the subway system, after the President asked City Mayor Mauricio Macri to, “make a little extra effort” for the transfer to go through by next Monday (January 2).
