Gov't announces 2-yr extension for 17 provinces under 'Debt Reduction' programme
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced today that the debt reduction extension for the provinces will be put forward for two more years, until the end of 2013. Seventeen provinces in the country agreed during talks today and signed the deal today at the Government House.
“We are going through with what was established previously, which is continuing with the policy of debt reduction, with the intention of refinancing the provinces that have higher unemployment,” assured the head of state while leading a ceremony at the Government House today.
The President stated that the deal was applied to seventeen provinces and works “in order to alleviate an average of almost 40% of debt reduction for all of the provinces.”
In addition, she put February 29 as a deadline for the provinces to inform the Governent of the total number of state employees they have –including those who work in provincial governements- so that the data could be incorporated into the Argentine Integrated Welfare System (SIPA).
