At least 16 dead in road accidents
At least 16 people died and another 14 were injured during several car accidents registered today, police sources reported.
Five members of an Argentine family died and a sixth was severely wounded during a head-on collision between their car and a bus on a route of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil.
Two adults, a teenager and two children were killed while a 16-year old was hospitalized with severe injures, local authorities said.
The victims, native of Santa Fe province, were identified as Leticia Noemí De Buck Santín, who was driving the Chevrolet Zafira, Gustavo Ferraro, Matías Nahuel, Andrés Ferraro and Thiago Benjamin Ferraro.
Another accident was reported this morning in the Buenos Aires province, in which five people died and ten were injured after a frontal collision between a car and a passenger bus was registered on route 11, in the locality of General Lavalle.
On that same route, in the Bavio locality, 44-year old Carlos Darío Peñalva died and three others were injured in a car crash.
Other three people died and two were injured after two accidents on the National Route 9, in the southern area of the Córdoba province.
The first took place on Kilometre 430 of the Rosario-Córdoba route, where a woman and a young man died when the Chevrolet Corsa they were travelling collided head-on with the column of an overpass.
This accident also left two women injured who were quickly transferred to the local hospital, according to police sources.
Earlier in the morning, a youngster died when his Toyota Hilux overturned on Kilometre 798 of the same route.
A man died and other three people were injured after a car crash between a Chevrolet Corsda and a Toyota Hilux at the national route 3, 20 kilometres from Trelew, in Chubut province.
Ricardo josé Vargas was killed in the crash, while the driver and the people travelling in the Hilux were injured.
Also, a 41-year-old man and his 9-year-old daughter died after an overturn at the national route 154, 300 kilometres from Santa Rosa.
The victims were from San Nicolás, Buenos Aires province, and were heading to Las Grutas in Río Negro province, sources said.
The Police reported that Carina Liliana Sabio, 38, was driving the car that overturned, and in which his husband and their daughter was killed.
A teenager was also in the car with them, but was slightly injured.
