Committee clears 2012 budget bill for Senate debate

Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino.

The Senate’s Budget and Treasury Committee cleared the 2012 budget bill, which will be discussed on the floor next Wednesday. The extension of the economic emergency bill as well as the one on cigarette and checks taxes were also cleared for debate.

A majority of Kirchnerite senators in the Committee voted in favour of debating the bills, which have already been granted preliminary approval in the Lower House.

The bills will then be discussed on the floor next Wednesday, largely in part to an agreement with the Radical party, whose members have agreed to perform a vote on the bill on that same day.

The bill’s economic plans were debated in a Committee meeting that included Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino, Secretary of Treasury Juan Carlos Pezoa, Secretary of Transport Juan Pablo Schiavi and Secretary of Energy Daniel Cameron.
