Budget: Fernández says 'no one can tell the President how to govern'

Senator and former Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández blasted the opposition’s intention to modify the bill for the “law of laws” sent by the Executive branch and considered that “no one can tell the President (Cristina Fernández de Kirchner) how to govern.”

“We have a clear position, which is to respect the Budget sent by the Executive branch because it has guidelines that are characteristic,” he added.

Only minutes before the meeting of the Budget Committee began, Fernández assured that he will try to achieve the ruling of the Budget “as soon as possible.” The committee will also debate the extensions of the Economic Emergency, cheque tax and cigarette tax bills, the hydrocarbon exports rights and a reform of the Income tax that gives the government the power to modify it without being previously debated at Congress.

Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino will explain the guidelines of the economic issues to be debated along with Treasury Secretary Juan Carlos Pezoa; Energy Secretary Daniel Cameron; Transport Secretary Juan Pablo Schiavi and Aerolíneas Argentinas president Mariano Recalde.
