CFK to farming sector: 'had you listened to me, you'd be doing better now'

President Cristina Fernández recalled her long standing conflict with the farming sector during her first administration, and warned producers that “had they agreed with her decision to raise taxes on grain exports, they would be doing better today.”

During her inaugural speech, the President said that in 2008, Argentina saw “the greatest political conflict since the return of democracy,” which ended in her decision to end relations with Vice-President Julio Cobos after he voted against her on the infamous “Resolution 125” case.

“Had they agreed with me, they would be doing better today. But oh well, it doesn’t matter now,” she said regarding the bill.

In that context, she rejected those who measure her government “by the amount of bills she managed to pass in Congress,” and recalled that the Kirchnerites “lost their majority in Congress a short time after she took office and suffered the longest political conflict in the history of the country.”
