Regional heads of state, foreign dignataries attend ceremony
Several regional heads of state and foreign dignataries are attending the inauguration of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in Congress. Presidents Dilma Roussef (Brazil), Sebastián Piñera (Chile), Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Álvaro Colom (Guatemala) and Porfirio Lobo (Honduras) will all be present as the President is sworn-in.
Uruguay's President José "Pepe" Mujica, who had canceled his visit on medical advice, decided to reverse his decision and confirmed on Thursday that he would be attending the President's inauguration.
Even though US President Barack Obama will not be present in the ceremony, his envoys Latin American advisor Dan Restrepo and Labour Secretary Hilda Solis will be attend the inauguration on behalf of the US government.
Solidarity and Social Cohesion Minister Roselyne Bachelot will be representing French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
On behalf of Spain, Felipe, Prince of Asturias landed at the Ezeiza International Airport early yesterday morning. Later on Friday Bolivian President Evo Morales and Brazilian President Dilma Roussef, who refused to talk to the press.
