Brazil: 36 dead and 11 injured after two trucks and bus crash in Bahía

Thirty-six people died today and eleven were injured after a two trucks and a bus crashed in the Brazilian city of Milagres, in Bahía province, Brazil’s Federal Transport Police informed. The bus was carrying illegal workers, which was making it harder for officials to identify bodies.

The accident occurred at kilometre 585 along the BR-116 federal motorway, some 241 kilometres from the province capital Salvador, when the driver of one of the trucks lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the other truck and then collided head-on with the bus that was coming from the other direction.

The bodies of the victims were transported to the Legal Medical Institute in the town of Jequié, close to Milagres, while the injured were taken to hospitals close to where the accident took place.
