Liga de Quito leave Vélez out of Sudamericana Cup

Argentinian Vélez Sársfield''s forward Guillermo Franco (R) vies for the ball past Ecuadorean Liga de Quito''s midfielder Diego Calderón.

Ecuador’s Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito defeated Vélez Sársfied 1-0 in the match for the second leg of the semi-finals of the Sudamericana Cup. The Argentine team was left out of the cup because it had also been defeated by 2-0 in the first leg.

Liga de Quito's Hernán Barcos opened the score only 4' after the beginning of the second half of the game.

The match was held at the José Amalfitani Stadium in Liniers neighbourhood.

During the game for the first leg played at Casa Blanca de Quito stadium, Liga defeated Vélez 2-0 with two goals netted by the Argentine forward Hernán Barcos.
