Inflation levels in 2012 'should be lower than this year's,' ADIMRA head assures

The head of the Argentina Association of Industrial Metalworkers (ADIMRA), Juan Carlos Lascurain, said he believes “inflation in 2012 will be lower than that of 2011,” and considered that salary hikes next year “should be lower than the ones agreed in the last couple of years.”

“I think each sector will have to agree on a percentage hike. We’ve hiked salaries very strongly these last few years, with more than 20 percent salary increases. In some cases even more than 30 percent. So I think this time we should be discussing something lower than that,” he explained.

Regarding inflation, Lascurain said he remained hopeful it would be lower than the levels reached in 2011, and assured that so far there have been no warnings indicating a decrease in metalworking activities.
