Liga de Quito defeat Vélez in semis' first leg
Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito defeated Vélez Sársfield 2-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Sudamericana Cup. The Argentine team must now defeated the Ecuadorean team in the second leg to be played in Liniers to reach the final.
Liga's Hernán Barcos opened the score only 3' after the beginning of the second half, and netted the second goal at 38'.
The match was held at the Casa Blanca stadium in Quito, located 2,800 metres above the sea level.
The second leg will be held next Tuesday at the José Amalfitani stadium in Liniers neighbourhood, and the winner will then face the victorious team of the game between Brazil’s Vasco Da Gama and Universidad de Chile.
