Senate suspends last ordinary session of the year
The Upper House of Congress suspended its last session of the ordinary period that was scheduled for November 30 after the sworn in of the senators elected in October 23.
Parliamentarian sources told the press that the pro-government bloc and the opposition agreed that the only activity to be held next Wednesday will be the preparatory session in which the new lawmakers will be sworn in and they will define who will occupy the provisional presidency and vice-presidency of the Upper House.
The legislators said that their decision was taken due to the lack of issues to debate and the difficulties to hold a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee, because the Constitutional Affairs Committee will meet that same date to analyze the certificates of the new Senators and the Radical Party will have a bloc’s encounter.
Legislators will then meet at the floor on December, when the Executive Branch calls for extraordinary sessions so that the Congress approves a number of economic bills, the 2012 Budget among them.
On December, the Senators will debate the budget sent from the Lower House, the Economic Emergency Law, the cheque tax and the extension for the cigarettes’ tax.
By then, the Upper House will count with a majority of pro-government senators.
