Once neighbourhood on alert: gas leak causes school to close
Police and firemen worked together at the scene, following a gas leak at a construction site.
Police and firefighters evacuated a high school yesterday in the Once neighbourhood located along Jujuy Avenue at 200, after construction workers hit a pipe causing it to leak.
Traffic was also disrupted as streets around the construction site had to be closed. According to preliminary reports, a digger hit a major gas pipe causing fluid to escape. Neighbouring houses were also evacuated as a precaution, as officials at the scene feared an explosion.
Metrogas later informed the situation is under control, with staff working at the scene.
