Calle 13 cancels Argentine show due to overly high prices

Residente (René Pérez Joglar) (L) and Visitante (Eduardo José Cabra Martinez) of the urban/hip-hop duo Calle 13 react at the announcement of nominations for the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in Hollywood, California September 14, 2011.

René Pérez Joglar, better known as “Residente” from the music group Calle 13, announced today via their Twitter account, that they had cancelled their gig in Comodoro Rivadavia due to the high price of show tickets.

“Due to the high Price of tickets for the Comodoro show without our consent, we decided to postpone the date until the prices are lowered,” the singer stated. “We travelled to Argentina by land so that the ash from the Chilean volcano didn’t have the chance of causing the show to be cancelled. We were 16 hours into the journey when we found out how expensive the tickets were,” he added.

After making the announcement “Residente” apologized to fans and said, “I’m sorry to the lovely people in Comodoro. We don’t even mind playing a free gig, but the high cost of tickets cannot be allowed.”

The show was supposed to be today and the tickets were priced between $200-$500 Argentine pesos.
