Leonas lose gold medal to US

Argentina’s women hockey team, Las Leonas, was defeated by the United States by 4-2 at the final of the XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. The US achieved the gold medal and the classification to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The “Albiceleste” team’s goals were netted by Noel Barrionuevo, but it was not enough to defeat the rival, whose goals were scored by Paige Selenki, Shannon Taylor, Kathleen O’ Donnell and Michelle Vittese.

Argentina, who received the silver medal, will try to qualify to the Olympics in the play-offs to be held on New Delhi (India), Beerschot (Belgium) and Kakamigahara (Japan).
