Bad weather, strikes slow Aeroparque flights
An Aerolínas Argentinas and Austral protest added to the inclement weather conditions that affect the city of Buenos Aires, complicating proceedings at the Aeroparque Metropolitan airport. Several Aerolíneas, Austral and Lan flights were either cancelled or delayed.
According to Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, Aerolíneas and Austral employees left the check in counters after a passenger tried to beat an employee of the check -in area. The measure will be implemented for an undetermined period of time.
The strike added to the inclement weather conditions that forced the public airline to reschedule several flights.
Meanwhile, Lan also had to cancel and reschedule several flights that were due to depart this morning because of the strong rains.
In addition to delays at the airports, setbacks were seen along the national highway routes, with the National Highway Security Agency warning drivers to take “further security precautions whilst driving” due to the heavy rain across the city and surrounding areas.
In the city of Buenos Aires, between midnight and 10 am this morning, recorded rainfall reached 25.1 millilitres. The peak hour was between 9 and 10 am, when 8 millilitres of precipitation fell.
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) maintained a weather warning for heavy storms and hail throughout the day and for tomorrow extending across different parts of the country. Affected areas include: the northern part of Buenos Aires province, the southern parts of Córdoba and Corriented provinces, Entre Ríos, Santa Fé, the south eastern area of Santiago del Estero and Río de la Plata.
