'This gov't doesn't persecute unionists,' Aníbal Fernández
Chief of Staff, Aníbal Fernández, stated this morning that “this government hasn’t ever persecuted after any unionists”, in response to a press release issued on Saturday by the CGT general workers’ confederation leader, Hugo Moyano, following Friday’s arrest of Unión Ferroviarias’ former general secretary Rubén Sobrero.
“This government never persecuted unionists, and this is not the case”, and added, “I consider myself a CGT man but I can say yes to everything. And I don’t agree with what they are claiming.”Likewise, the minister assured that if Sobredo or any other unionists were arrested “it was because the judge must considered to have enough and substantial evidence to order the arrests.”
On Saturday, Moyano had compared the case of Sobrero with that of the former financial manager for the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo Foundation Sergio Schoklender, describing both as being “first financed, and then tied up” when investigations into their activities picked up speed.
