Boudou: ‘Argentina’s has the second most important growth in the world'
Speaking before the Lower House of Congress which marked the start of the 2012 budget bill debate, Economy Minister Amado Boudou said international organisations forecast an 8 percent growth for Argentina, which “puts the country’s growth in the second place worldwide.”
“We expect the 2012 unemployment rate to fall as well as our dramatic debt,” Boudou added as he defended the 2012 draft Budget.
He also stressed that Argentina has a “healthy and strong financial system which allows us to allocate resources through the real economy.”
Boudou’s presence in Congress marked the official start to the debate over the Budget bill that the Executive sent to lawmakers on September 15. It also marked the last presentation of this kind Boudou will carry out as Economy Minister since the Victory Front’s vice-presidential candidate will become the head of the Senate if, as expected, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner wins reelection on October 23.Last year’s Budget bill was never approved by Congress amid partisan rancour, but its passage is widely seen as assured this year.
