26 people injured during Spring Day celebrations in Palermo
Spring Day celebrations in the Tres de Febrero park, in Palermo, left a total of 26 people injured and 14 people arrested after several incidents were registered when students were celebrating the arrival of spring, police officials said.
According to sources in the SAME emergency service, 26 people were injured, including a 28-year old who had to be hospitalized after he was stabbed twice in the back. Fourteen others were arrested after they were reportedly involved in public disturbances and thefts.
As the afternoon temperature was on the rise, thousands of young people invaded public parks in order to celebrate Students’ Day, which falls on September 21st, the same day spring begins.
In the city of Buenos Aires, students gathered at the Tres de Febrero park, also known as the “Palermo Woods” area, after 11 am. With temperatures reaching 25°C, they brought sodas, sandwiches, mates and other snacks they would share all day.
Students got together in other areas of the Greater Buenos Aires, as well as Córdoba, Santa Fe and Mendoza.
