Severe hail warning lifted

The skies darkened once more in Buenos Aires this morning, opening the possibility for heavy showers throughout the day.

A weather warning was issued by the National Meteorological Service (SMN) today, predicting storms and hail in the city of Buenos Aires, the central and northern areas of the province, north east of Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Santa Fe and Río de la Plata. The hail warning was later lifted, but the storm warning remained in effect well into nightfall.

A warm, humid front moved towards the city and surrounding areas, isolating itself, which later is predicted to develop into rain and hail storms, some predicted to be particularly heavy.

The storms are said to hit the capital and surrounding areas toward the beginning of the afternoon.
