Gov't deems UK military exercises in South Atlantic 'a provocation'

Defence Minister Arturo Puricelli considered that a series of UK military exercises carried out in the South Atlantic ocean zone “is a provocation to Argentina.”

All display of warfare material in the South Atlantic zone by the United Kingdom is a provocation,” Puricelli warned. British Navy ships carried out military exercises in an area surrounding the Malvinas islands.

Puricelli stressed the UNIDEF 2011 joint military exercise which took place this week in the Puerto Belgrano navy base, in in the Buenos Aires province district of Bahía Blanca- “it was coordinated by the Joint Operational Command and it proved our Armed Forces’ capacity.”
