Candela’s father ‘has no clue as to why she was killed,’ lawyer assures

Lawyer Carlos Telleldín assured that his client, the father of deceased 11-year old Candela Rodríguez, “has no clue as to why his daughter was killed,” and said he is “just a patsy.” 

Alfredo Rodríguez has been in prison for the last fourteen months after being found guilty of being involved in a series of motorway holdups.

“He has been in prison for the last fourteen months after being found guilty of stealing a truck in the Palomar district,” Telleldín said, and shot down rumours that his client was a “snitch” for the police, and that was the reason why his daughter had been killed. 

He also said Rodríguez would not be a suspect in the investigation and assured that “right now, he is a victim. He’s providing the police with his statement as a witness and there are no lawyers involved.”

“Alfredo Rodríguez has no clue as to why his daughter was killed. He is not into shady businesses, he’s not a bad guy and he has no debts. He’s a good guy,” he added. 

“We must make a difference between these two kinds of criminals. The ones who are part of a gang and carry guns,” and Rodríguez, who is “a patsy.”

“When he was caught, it was just him. All his friends had been arrested before, not after. He was the last one to be caught,” he concluded.

Candela Rodríguez dissapeared on August 22nd. and was found dead nine days later inside a plastic bag a few blocks away from her home.

Authorities are still trying to figure out who kidnapped and eventually murdered her.
