Del Potro, Chela, Nalbandian achieve third round

Argentine tennis player Juan Ignacio Chela will accompany his fellow countrymen Juan Mónaco, Juan Martín del Potro and David Nalbandian in the third round of the US Open. He defeated Belgian Steve Darcis by 6-2, 6-4 and 6-4 after two hours.

Chela, who was having a bad performance in the North American championships after losing in the first rounds of the two Masters 1000 of Montreal and Cincinnati, achieved the third round of the US Open, where he will face US player Donald Young.

Meanwhile, David Nalbandian defeated Croatian Ivan Ljubicic by 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 and 6-2. The Argentine player will face Spaniard Rafa Nadal for a place in the pre-quarter finals.

Earlier, the winner of the US Open 2009, Juan Martín del Potro, managed to defeat his fellow countryman Diego Junqueira by 6-2, 6-1 and 7-5, reaching the third round of the Open.

Del Potro will now face the French Gilles Simon.
