Mónaco beats Stepanek, reach US Open 3rd round
Juan Mónaco reached to the third round of the US Open, the fourth and last Grand Slam of the year, after winning by 6-4, 6-1 and 2-0 over Czech Radek Stepanek, who abandoned the round in the third set due to an injury in his right shoulder.
For the second time in his career, Mónaco achieves the third round of the US Open, after he had reached the pre-quarter finals in 2007.
The tennis player from Tandil will face German Tommy Haas, who defeated Colombian Alejandro Falla by 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 and 7-5.
