Del Potro thrashes Volandri, advances to next round

Tennis player Juan Martín del Potro achieved the second round of the US Open, the fourth and last Grand Slam of the year, after defeating Italian Filippo Volandri by 6-3, 3-1 and 6-1, after an hour and 28 minutes at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Del Potro, winner of the tournament in 2009 and absent in 2010 due to an injury, will face in the second round his fellow country-man Diego Junqueira, who has defeated Slovenian Karol Beck by 6-2 and after 32 minutes his opponent abandoned.
The player from Tandil town entered the list of those Argentines who reached the second round, formed by Juan Ignacio Chela, David Nalbandian, Carlos Berlocq and Juan Mónaco, and Gisela Dulko represents the country in the Women Cup.
