River achieve victory in National B debut against Chacarita

River Plate began with its “come-back task” to return to the Top Division with a victory against Chacarita Juniors in the match for the first round of the of the National B tournament.

River's Juan Manuel Díaz headed the only goal of the game only 6' after the beginning of the match.

The game was held at River’s Monumental stadium.

River has been relegated for the first time in its 110 years when it lost to Belgrano in June.

The team coached by Matías Almeyda played with the substitute goalkeeper, Leandro Chichizola, because Daniel Vega was injured during one of the training sessions.

 

Line-ups:

River Plate: Leandro Chichizola; Luciano Abecasis, Agustín Alayes, Jonathan Maidana and Juan Manuel Díaz; Carlos Sánchez, Nicolás Domingo, Martín Aguirre and Lucas Ocampos; Alejandro Domínguez and Fernando Cavenaghi. Coach: Matías Almeyda.

Chacarita Juniors: Pedro Fernández; Angel Piz, Sebastián Pena, Mario Vera and Juan Angel Krupoviesa; Franco Dolci, Damián Toledo, Emanuel Centurión and Santiago Raymonda; Carlos Herrera and Pablo Bastianini. Coach: Héctor Rivoira.

Stadium: River Plate.

Referee: Héctor Baldassi.
