'Voter turnout was similar to the one seen during a general election,' Randazzo assures
Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo assured that the voters’ turnout in Sunday’s primary elections was similar to the one seen during a general election, which means that close to a 70 percent of the registered voters took part in them.
Randazzo spoke from the recount centre in the City neighbourhood of Barracas, where he “thanked the Argentine population for taking part in such a democratic celebration on behalf of the National Government.”
“I want to thank everyone who helped take part in these successful elections,” he said.
According to the Minister, the massive turnout “shows the population’s needs to take part in the candidate selection process, which leaves behind the old political system.”
Randazzo praised the election reform bill “which was brought forward by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.”
“This is a cultural victory. We had better lists, new coloured ballots, poll stations for people of both sexes, the candidates’ photos and all political parties were equally awarded with presence in the media,” hr explained.
He assured that official results would be available after 9 pm.
