Obama, Bernanke discuss economy recovery
President Barack Obama met with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and discussed the "perspectives to recover the economy," a day after the Fed announced it would keep rates near zero for two years.
“The President and Bernanke met to discuss the outlook for the economy recovery and for jobs as well as fiscal issues, including the need to tackle the long-term deficit reduction,” the White House affirmed in a communiqué.
Cabinet Chief William Daley, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and NEC Director Gene Sperling were also present at the encounter.
The communiqué also stated that it was the third time that Obama met with the chairman of the Fed this year.
