Sabella travels to Europe to meet Messi, other players

The new Argentine national football team coach Alejandro Sabella answers a question during a press conference.

Argentina’s national football team new coach Alejandro Sabella travelled to Europe to interview the players who currently play in teams from that continent, especially with Lionel Messi, the star of the “Albiceleste” team.

Before heading to Portugal, his first destination, Sabella supported Juan Sebastián Verón as the future manager of the team, replacing Carlos Bilardo, although he assured that he is aware that the player still has a year contract with Estudiantes de La Plata.

“We know what Verón means for the Argentine football and for the national team. He is a very valuable person but it is a decision that does not depend on me,” said the coach after considering the possibility that “La bruja” takes over as the national teams’ manager.

Accompanied by the trainer Pablo Blanco, Sabella will land first in Portugal and then will travel to Spain.

He will assist to two matches of the Spaniard Supercopa between Real Madrid and Barcelona before heading to Italy.

Sabella’s debut as the coach of the national team will be in a friendly match against Venezuela to be held on September 2 in Calcutta.
