Corruption scandal rattles Brazil's Rousseff gov’t

Brazilian police have arrested 38 people in three states related to the nation's Tourism Ministry on allegations of corruption. Among the detainees is the ministry's second in command, Frederico Silva da Costa and former Embratur president, Mario Moises. All of them are or were government’s top officials.

The arrest is yet another blow to the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff’s cabinet. Her government has been under attack since a corruption scandal beheaded her chief of staff Antonio Palocci among other top ministers, all tumbling down over corruption allegations.

Police state the allegations evolve around misuse of public funds, fraudulent contracts and unexplained ties to Non Governmental Organizations.

And last month the transportation minister was forced to quit along with more than two dozen officials in that ministry amid allegations of a kickback and overbilling scheme.
