Jujuy: CCC assures already 2,000 families took over lands
Tension continues in Jujuy province after the conflict generated after the eviction in which squatters clashed with the police last Thursday. Social organizations leaders assured that the number of families that currently take over the lands is increasing and affirmed that the measures applied by the local government are not enough.
A violent eviction that led to the death of four people and many injured, unveiled the housing deficit in the province.
After Thursday’s eviction, the number of squatters increased. According to Enrique Mosquera, one of the representatives of Jujuy’s Class Struggle Current (CCC), the number of families who took over the lots has reached 2,000.
Mosquera warned that the first initiative of the provincial government to ease the crisis, the take over of the lots which belonged to the Ledesma sugar mill company, “didn’t solve anything.” Besides, he added that the approval “came late, after the violent eviction.”
