CFK announces a 16.8% increase for pensioners

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced a 16.8% increase for pensioners on Wednesday, during a ceremony celebrating the anniversary of the National Inter-university Council (CIN) at the Government House. The hike will be applied from September 1, reaching 6.8 million beneficiaries.

The President announced that the “resolution 448 of the ANSeS is the second pension increase to be applied this year, at 16.82%”.

“This hike adds to the annual pension increase in 2011, raising it to 37.06%, taking the minimum pension rate from 1,227.78 pesos to 1,434.29 pesos, adding on another 45 pesos from PAMI medical care,” the head of State affirmed.

Fernández de Kirchner drew attention to the “856%” rise in the minimum pension rate since the death of the ex-president, Néstor Kirchner, “an increase of almost 100% per year.”

The President’s speech took place at the Government House, before she hosted the 25th anniversary of the National Inter-University Council (CIN), where she also highlighted the nine universities that have opened since 2003.
