Argentina wins in debut at U20 World Cup

Argentina’s national football team defeated Mexico 1-0 with a goal netted by Erik Lamela in its debut at the U-20 World Cup played in Colombia.

Lamela netted the only goal of the match at 70’ in the match held at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellín city.

Argentina currently leads the Group F with three points, followed by England and North Korea who drew 0-0 with one point, and Mexico with 0 points.

In the second match for the group, Argentina will face England, and Mexico will face North Korea on Monday at the same stadium in Medellín.

Argentina: Esteban Andrada; Hugo Nervo, Germán Pezzella, Leonel Galeano and Nicolás Tagliafico; Rodrigo Battaglia, Matías Laba, Ezequiel Cirigliano and Erik Lamela; Juan Iturbe and Facundo Ferreyra. Coach: Walter Perazzo.

México: Carlos López; Diego Reyes, Kristian Alvarez, Saúl Villalobos and Néstor Araujo; Diego de Buen, Jorge Enríquez and Ulises Dávila; Carlos Orrantia, Alán Pulido and Taufic Guarch. Coach: Juan Carlos Chávez.

Referee: Istvan Vad (Hungary).
