Macri ‘concerned’ that football may be used as a political tool
City Mayor Mauricio Macri said he was “concerned” that football is being used as a political tool, adding that he was happy that the AFA had decided to backpeddle on their controversial new project that looked to unite both the First and the National B divisions.
“I’m concerned that they may be trying to use football as a political tool,” the PRO leader said, adding that even if he recognized Julio Grondona’s career, he “believes in renovating” the organization’s board.
He also blasted the National Government’s “Football for all,” programme, since he believes it’s not broadcasting a balanced message.
“Football for all is being used politically to spread a biased message in favour of the National Government. I’m not sure that’s good for Argentine football,” he said after attending a ceremony in the Villa Luro area.
