'Argentina is ready to negotiate with UK over Malvinas,' says Timerman
Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, stated in Paris that “the United Kingdom cannot hide behind the fact that they are permanent members of the UN Security Council, to avoid talking over the Malvinas issue,” and reiterated that “Argentina feels as though its ready to negotiate and hopes that England is too.”
During a press interview, following his meeting with his French counterpart, Alain Juppé, Timerman sustained that “just as they ask for international resolutions, we hope that the United Kingdom will sit down to negotiate over the Malvinas.”
“We believe that it’s time the United Kingdom stopped hiding behind their Security Committee position at the United Nations and accept the decisions of the General Assembly of the UN, whom every year call upon both parties to discuss this subject,” Timerman said.
