Brazil’s Lula criticizes rich countries for world crisis

Brazilian former president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, criticized rich countries for their roll on the economic crisis that has been changing the world’s economic map. According to the former chief of state, the world’s biggest economic players are “unable to sort out Greece’s problems.” Lula also reiterated his successor, Labor party mate Dilma Rousseff, is “completely able of running the country.”

“I know her personality and her capacity. You can rest assured she will do more and better than we did in my term.”

The former President spoke last night to a Construction industry businessmen crowd in Sao Paulo. Lula also reminded that less developed countries – like Bolivia, as he illustrated – are not ‘responsible’ for today’s international economic scenario and therefore shouldn’t have to pay for the richest nations’ choices.

Economy minister, Guido Mantega, said Brazil is one of the best prepared countries to face an eventual default of the United States, but considered it unlikely to occur and said he expects “common sense” prevails.
