CFK says 'Néstor wanted us to be the drivers of our own destiny'

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner inaugurated the new bus and train terminal in Mar del Plata on Friday, bringing together the new bus terminal and old train station introducing a modernized look on transport, as was intended by her late husband. “He (Néstor Kirchner) wanted us to be the drivers of our own destiny,” and to not “piggyback other countries,” she said.

Accompanied by Buenos Aires province Governor Daniel Scioli and the Transport Secretary, Juan Pablo Schiavi, Fernández de Kirchner conducted a tour around the trains stationed in the area.

The President also said that “when Argentina goes through hard times, so does Mar del Plata and the rest of the country,” but today “we have to recognize that the country is moving up and we will continue to work together for Argentines to live well.”

The new station will be able to host 1,200 coaches and 11 trains per day, with an annual movement of about 2,000,000 passengers, official sources reported.
