Macri evades mayoral debate once again
Thus, and after Filmus’ invitation letter to set a debate at any TV air-channel, everybody could read on Peña’s Twitter: “We have decided that the necessary conditions for setting a debate with Filmus are not guaranteed as it would be a scenario for aggression and lies”, and added, “This last week before runoff, we’d like to focus n working along with the neighbors of the City.”
Likewise, Peña justified Macri’s refusal to debate by saying that “Macri offered himself for debate, but instead of looking for consensus on how to do it, the Kirchnerism focused on attacking the City inhabitants.”
Furthermore, the City official aimed to “Aníbal Fernández, Fito Páez, Horacio González, Alberto Sileoni, and Fernando Braga Menéndez took turns to attack those who think different”, and added, “We (PRO) have done a campaign in favor of the City neighbors, while the Kirchnerism did it against Macri.”
It is obvious that behind Macri’s rejection is the advice of his assistants and campaign’s mastermind Ecuadorean political consultant Jaime Durán Barba, who told the business tycoon that it wouldn’t be convenient to participate in a debate after having obtained a 19-point lead after the first round.
