Planning Minister Julio De Vido, denied this morning that the country is suffering from a fuel shortage, assuring that “there is no lack of petrol or diesel, however, just a longer wait to fill up,” adding that, “in December it will be exactly the same.”

The Planning Minister attributed the disrupted fuel supplies to “logistical network problems; a product of the holiday season, and due to the fact that we are passing through the peak harvest for major commodities.”

De Vido predicted that in December, when the wave of tourists leaving the city begins for the festive season, and summer holidays, “exactly the same thing will happen as there will be a high demand for fuel.”

At the same time, De Vido recognized “up to 30 car-long queues” in some petrol stations along the Panamerican highway, but again denied that there was a fuel deficiency.
